My Next Chapter

Life After the Corporate World

Who would have thought that I would be doing the things that I am doing since leaving the corporate world. I didn't plan on retiring and I was hoping to work a couple more years as I enjoyed what I did. I felt like my co-workers were my extended family. I enjoyed helping everyone on the team. I've been known as the glue that kept our finance department together.

When I received the shocking news that I was getting laid off, I was devastated. Not quite at the retirement age, I wasn't sure what life had to offer. I literally had to take one day at a time. I had no clue what was in stored for me, except I had to trust God to give me guidance. Now look at where I am today, soaring with wings!

Classes at Margie Weaver Senior Center

Senior Center offers so many neat programs. I admire how they keep the seniors active. They even provide transportation for those who need a ride. They also provide lunch in the cafeteria.

Dawson County has approved plans to build a new building to expand their programs. I love their outreach to welcome us in the community.

I joined the art classes offered on Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. I try to attend on a regular basis.

Our Art Teacher, Carole Kinzie

Carole loves to teach and share her knowledge in painting. She knows all mediums whether it’s watercolors, acrylics or oils. She encourages us not to give up when we get frustrated with our paintings. She has the eye to see how we can improve our artwork. We need direction to strive to do our best. We so appreciate her wisdom and knowledge.

My Art Buddies

I love this group of people. They are so caring. They have a sweet spirit about them. I can feel the positive energy when I step into the room. When life's busy schedule interferes with my attending class, the next time I show up, they tell me how much they missed me. They are genuinely loving friends and I want to learn so much from them. I love being the baby of the group.
